Contest and Freebies

We know some of you folks can't stay off two wheels, even when it snows -- we've seen some of the photos on facebook, y'know?

So, we're going to give away one SMS helmet to the craziest winter scooter picture submitted to us (either via e-mail or on our facebook wall between now and March 15, 2010. Two caveats: You must own the rights to the photo, and you must give us permission to use it on our web site in order to claim the SMS helmet.

Also, through March 15, if you buy a liter of any Motul oil, we'll give you a free balaclava to keep your face warm in this unseasonable cold we've been having.

New Features, New Facebook

... and Happy New February, to you, as well!

Now that we're back and in the new year of 2010, we're moving right along with several projects (in between times where it gets nice enough to ride, of course).

First off, we're in the process of making some 360° Demo videos for many of our scooters to help people discover the important features of each scooter, and for those who haven't been in, to let those folks get a good look at each one, as well. Check out our Scooters page to see the 360° Demo videos for the Genuine Buddy, Genuine Stella, Kymco People 150 and Kymco Xciting 500Ri.

And yes, we're now on facebook! Many of you have asked us, "When are you going to start a facebook page?" Well, the answer is now! So, feel free to check out our page, and send us a friend request so we can add you to our list of facebook friends.

If you haven't heard, Genuine is getting ready to roll out the 4-stroke Stella very soon, now. If you or someone you know is looking for a 2-stroke Stella, please remind them that time is growing short to snap up a new one... and we have two currently on our floor.

Also on the horizon is the fuel-injected Genuine Blur 220. More details will be posted here, as they come in.

Going To The Dogs

Just a reminder of the Hot Dog Run, starting tomorrow, Saturday 11/21 @ 11:30 a.m. at East Side Scooters... the big news is, if we can get 50 or more riders to participate, we'll draw from the participants to give away a Fulmer AF-D4 full-face helmet (shown at left with optional mirrored face shield, not included), perfect for colder-weather riding! If we reach that 50-rider mark, the winner will have their choice of any solid color Fulmer AF-D4 helmet, in any size.

So be sure to tell your friends -- let's get at least 50 riders, so we can give away this great helmet! Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be AWESOME, so come hungry, and let's go check out Nashville's best hot dog eateries!

Cold Weather and Hot Dogs

Yes, we have no bananas, but everyone likes a good hot dog... which is why we're stealing Jason's idea for a Hot Dog Run (with his blessing), on Saturday, November 21, starting here at East Side Scooters at 11:30 a.m.

We're still putting the details together for the ride, but we have four of Nashville's finest hot dog purveyors lined up, with a possible fifth to be added. Stay tuned here at the web site, follow our Tweets on Twitter, or if you're on our mailing list, check your e-mail for more details... coming soon. And may the best dog win!

We will be riding to 3 different Hot Dog venues in Nashville to determine who has the best Dog in Nashville. We will be hitting I Dream of Weenie, Hot Diggity Dog and The Dog of Nashville.

One new thing we'll be doing is using Twitter to provide live, real-time updates, so if you're busy earlier in the day, and want to meet us for just the second part of the ride (out River Road), you can use our Twitter feed (if you look over to the left of this screen, you'll see a new feature, "tweets" -- you can also click that tab to check our Twitter updates with TweetBoard) to find out when to meet us at the Belle Meade entrance of Percy Warner Park.

Looking For Scooter Volunteers/Ride Next Saturday

Hope On Wheels, a local organization raising money to fight breast cancer, is looking for a few people to volunteer to ride their own, personal scooters to help provide "on-road" support for bicycle riders participating in their riding events on Saturday, September 12th, 2009.

Volunteers will be needed throughout the day, and duties will include providing assistance to bicyclists along the routes, and/or relaying the need for assistance to other support volunteers. If you have a cell phone, that would be helpful, but not necessary.

To volunteer, click here to fill out the volunteer form, and specify Scooter Support in the "job desired" field.

Also, we're having another ride next Saturday, September 5th, starting at East Side Scooters, and everyone's favorite mobile Mexican cuisine, Mas Tacos, will be on location, serving up lots of tasty food. We're still working on the logistics, but we'll update the Rides page, later this week, as more details emerge.
